How can I order more than one box?
After the campaign, we will offer a pre-order to anyone interested in the game. Existing backers will be able to order additional boxes even if they make a pledge without a reward.
We want to support the tabletop ecosystem by supporting retailers! In case you are a retailer (or you can get in touch with one), send us an e-mail at [email protected] for pricing information.

How can I pledge for ADD-ONs unlocked through the extra goals?
These add-ons are currently not available for purchase. After the campaign ends you will be able to purchase them through the pledge manager.
The main reason for the apparent lack of information is that these goals were introduced at the end of campaign, and we didn’t have enough time to flesh them out, especially their specifications, price, and shipping.

As an owner of the first edition, is there compatibility between the two games?
The new game is not backwards compatible, although to an extent you can use the old game with the new manual. Besides many improvements and concepts from the rule side of things, you can expect a lot of changes of the existing content (especially chapters). In closing there is also the addition of new content (as an example there will be 60 new items in the Core box). To best get the overview of all the changes between editions please check: http://machinaarcana.com/changelog.html

Will there be some kind of upgrade option for owners of the first game?
From tokens to the cards, all the game elements are in one way or another upgraded, so unfortunately there isn’t an upgrade option. Regardless, Machina Arcana is alive thanks to the support of her old backers, which means if they pledge to this campaign for a Core game, they will be upgraded to Premium level for free. After the campaign, our automated and self-served system will help them with the verification process.

Is this a relaunch?
It still plays and feels like first Machina Arcana - the main driving force is to make the most of the game, not to create a new one. This is technically a 2nd edition, but considering how each game component has been upgraded it feels more like a rebirth. The first game is like a chrysalis, and it’s time to mature beyond the larval stage. For overview of all the changes between editions please check: http://machinaarcana.com/changelog.html

Will the new Core box have different story and explorers from the first edition?
The Core box will have the same story, and the same explorers (minus the exclusive ones from previous edition) but both explorers and chapters will have new illustrations. Furthermore, abilities from the 1st edition chapter cards have their abilities completely reworked. The expansions will on the other hand contain completely new content.

What is the difference between Core and Premium game?
Premium box contains the Core game and 2 expansions (Recurrence, and Geometry of the Void). These expansions contain additional game content (map tiles, explorers, monsters, chapters, and events).

Do the unlocked stretch goals apply just to Premium game?
No. Everything unlocked through the stretch goals is applied to both Core and Premium game.

Will there be exclusive content just for this Kickstarter?
No. There will be no exclusive content for this campaign.

Are there any add-ons for this campaign?
There are some plans for the add-ons, but we will see how it goes (some opportunities might open up either during or after the campaign).

How hard is this game?
The default game - when played as intended is very hard, there’s no way around that (you can think of it like a tactical survival horror).
Regardless, there are options to either lower the difficulty a little, or to change the style to a more adventure-like setting.

Are there miniatures in the game?
No. Besides the exorbitant costs and all the problems with production, logistics and quality I am not convinced that it is the best way to use it in this setting. Due to small map tile spaces the miniatures would need to be extra small, and explorers would be the same size as ultimate level big monsters. On the other hand cutouts will be vastly improved: new illustrations, and size will grow based on the monster level.

What card formats are used in the game?
There are 4 card formats used in the game: - Explorers / Monsters: 59mm x 91mm - Events: 45mm x 68mm - Items: 80mm x 45mm - Chapters: 125mm x 88mm

Will there be a Bestiarium and Storybook?
Not at the moment. Biggest priority is with producing the boxes as soon as possible, and our graphic design department is overwhelmed with work (Aleksandra).
Consider that Bestiarium and Storybook is something we just MUST have, the only question is when.

Will the custom tray hold sleeved cards?
Yes the plan is to have a tray that holds even the sleeved cards.

Will Machina Arcana be available in other languages?
For now the first print run will just be in English. We will share new information about translating the manual to other languages, considering we will most definitely have a Spanish, German, and French manual available as free download.

Are there variants that tackle explorer death?
Death can be a tricky topic, and games are very careful when they need to address the fact that: people don’t want to die.
Machina Arcana respects Death, and embraces it as a shadow that looms over decisions of its players.
There is no “player elimination” in the game though - the players of dead explorers continue playing the game, although now from a totally new perspective.
Once the players’ minds join forces with the Horror, it is only a matter of rounds when explorers are overwhelmed, and the game is over.
Do not expect any official variants that tries to bypass Death.
This would be blasphemous, and She will not allow it.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
